Half-Day Market Tour and Cooking Class

Been there recently?

This tour combines both a cycling tour and a cooking class, providing you with a wealth of experiences and flavors. We will cycle to West Lake and Truc Bach Lake, known outside Vietnam as the sites where future United States politician John McCain landed during the Vietnam War after being shot down. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit local markets and experience shopping for food and spices like a local, preparing your meal. Finally, we will conclude the trip at the Hanoi Cooking Center, where you can learn how to make Vietnamese cuisine using the ingredients we purchased at the markets.

8:00 AM: Departure

Meet up at your hotel. After short briefs about bikes and how to ride in the Hanoi traffic, we start riding to West Lake and Truc Bach Lake.

8:30 AM:Preparation Time

After ½ hours warming up your body biking, we visit Chau Long market, the biggest local market in this area, and buy ingredients for lunch. That is a true experience since you buy the food yourself and follow the recipes (we will send you in advance). Do not forget to bring a camera because in the market you can see some kinds of food, vegetables, and animals that you have never seen before in a market. When we finish choosing things for the cooking class, we bike to the Hanoi Cooking Center located on the nearby street. Meet the teachers and the class will start.

Tour Location

Hanoi, the capital and cultural hub of Vietnam, boasts a rich and ancient history. Dating back thousands of years, it was known as Thang Long during the Middle Ages. Under French colonial rule in the 19th century, it became a pivotal center. Hanoi endured tumult during the Vietnam War, including pivotal events like the Battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954. Since reunification in 1976, it has thrived as the capital of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, blending rapid economic growth with the preservation of its rich cultural heritage. Today, Hanoi stands as a top cultural and tourist destination in Southeast Asia, drawing millions with its historic sites, ancient architecture, and unique cultural traditions.
