Question 1: I heard that Vietnam offers visa exemptions. Do I qualify?
From August 15, 2023:
- Vietnam’s Unilateral Visa Exemption for 45 Days: Vietnam officially grants a 45-day visa exemption from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or entry purpose, for citizens of 13 countries: South Korea, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Belarus.
- Vietnam’s Bilateral Visa Exemption for 30 Days: Vietnam grants a 30-day visa exemption for citizens of Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Laos. For the Philippines, the exemption is 21 days, and for Myanmar and Brunei, it is 14 days.
Question 2: I am an overseas Vietnamese visitor. Do I need a visa?
Currently, the Vietnamese government has implemented a visa exemption policy for Vietnamese people living abroad. Accordingly, overseas Vietnamese with foreign passports, documents proving their Vietnamese origin, and some other required papers can enter Vietnam with a visa exemption certificate instead of a visa
Question 3: Procedures for Applying for a Vietnam Tourist Visa for Foreign Entrants
Conditions for entering Vietnam for tourism purposes:
- Passport valid for at least 6 months
- Not subject to entry bans or restrictions into Vietnam.
Visa issuance procedures by the travel company for foreign visitors entering Vietnam:
The travel company, possessing a full travel permit and suitable tour routes, prepares visa applications for foreign tourists for tourism purposes by obtaining approval letters for visa issuance for foreigners at border checkpoints or Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad (Embassies or Consulates of Vietnam)
Question 5: How is the procedure for extending tourist visas for foreigners staying in Vietnam?
The simplest way to apply for a Vietnam visa is through the electronic visa (E-visa Vietnam) system. Foreigners can access the website of the Vietnam Immigration Department to complete the online visa application process by filling in the required information and paying the prescribed fees. The Immigration Department will provide the result online, and foreigners can either print it out or save it on their mobile devices. Upon arrival at the designated port of entry, foreigners present their passports along with the visa document for inspection and entry permission.
Trip Planning
Question 1: When is the best time to visit Hanoi Capital?
Autumn is perhaps the most beautiful season in Hanoi. Coming to Hanoi during this season, you will have the chance to admire the golden rays of sunlight shimmering, casting a magical glow over the streets and alleys. The autumn sun in Hanoi exudes a graceful beauty akin to a young woman in her twenties.
Question 2: Is there a particular time of the year I should steer clear of traveling in Vietnam?
The period between June and August is typically the peak of Vietnam’s hot and humid summer, with temperatures often reaching uncomfortable levels, particularly in central and southern regions. Additionally, this time coincides with the rainy season, which can lead to frequent downpours and flooding in some areas, affecting travel plans. Therefore, if you prefer milder weather and wish to avoid potential disruptions due to heavy rainfall, it may be best to plan your travels outside of these months.
