Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh Rank Among Asia’s Travel Cities 10 Most Affordable
This list of Asia’s 10 most affordable travel cities was recently published by the American travel magazine Travel & Leisure, based on the average cost of a standard double room and round-trip economy flights from June to December.
Vietnam’s Top Travel Cities for Affordable Travel
In this ranking, Ho Chi Minh City is second, with an average trip cost of about $1,452. Hanoi, the capital, is ninth, with a total trip expense of around $1,546.
Experts from Travel & Leisure note that the direct flight route from Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco significantly reduces costs for travelers (with a round-trip ticket costing approximately $660). Additionally, food and accommodation prices in Ho Chi Minh City are very affordable. The city’s budget-friendly dining and lodging options make it an ideal destination for travelers with limited budgets.
Recently, Vietnam has gained international recognition as a destination known for delicious, affordable food, convenient public transportation, and a wide range of accommodation options, from budget to luxury, all at lower prices than the regional average.
Ethan Crowley, a Kayak expert, said, “Visiting Vietnam means enjoying delicious, affordable food, high-value hotels, and convenient transportation. Accommodations, from budget to luxury, are much cheaper than in neighboring countries. Vietnam’s domestic business class flights offer great value, making crowded airports more enjoyable, and even economy flights are far cheaper than similar routes in the U.S. Street food in Vietnam is among the cheapest in the region.”

Taipei (Taiwan, China) is Asia’s most affordable travel city. Japan has two cities in the top 10—Tokyo and Osaka—ranking seventh and tenth, respectively. New Delhi in India takes fourth place.
