On March 4, the Hanoi Department of Tourism and Hai Ba Trung District launched Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025 – Get on Hanoi 2025 at the Hai Ba Trung Temple – Pagoda – Communal House Special National Relic Complex. This event honors the nation’s indomitable spirit, marking the 1985th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung Uprising (40 – 2025). The historic site on Huong Vien Street, Hanoi, was chosen to initiate a series of over 60 tourism promotion activities in 2025.

Get on Hanoi 2025 presented a breathtaking artistic program divided into three chapters: Sacred Origins, Cultural Convergence, and Hanoi of the Future. These performances immersed audiences in the nation’s history, celebrating the legacy of past generations. The night’s highlight was Sacred Heroism of Trung Sisters, a mesmerizing combination of light technology and synchronized performances that vividly recreated the powerful uprising. Historic visuals transported spectators into a heroic past, resonating with the echoes of battle drums from over a millennium ago.

A strong engine for economic growth

Speaking at the event, Ms. Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, emphasized the sector’s pivotal role in the capital’s economy. In 2024, Hanoi welcomed 27.88 million visitors, a 12.7% increase from the previous year, with international arrivals reaching 6.37 million, up 34.8%. Tourism revenue was estimated at 110.66 trillion VND, reflecting an 18.5% growth. The city continues to host major tourism events while working closely with districts, businesses, and individuals to develop innovative and attractive travel experiences.

Hanoi’s growing reputation was affirmed by the World Travel Awards, naming it Asia’s Leading City Destination 2024 and Vietnam’s Leading Cultural Destination 2024. The capital also ranked third among the Top 25 Popular Destinations Worldwide 2024 and was listed among Tripadvisor’s 25 Best Destinations of All Time for 2025. “These recognitions acknowledge our relentless efforts and serve as motivation to drive Hanoi’s tourism sector forward,” Ms. Giang stated.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, announced the decision to officially recognize the Hai Ba Trung Temple – Pagoda – Communal House Complex as a tourist destination. With its rich historical and architectural significance, the site has become a cultural and spiritual landmark, attracting both domestic and international visitors, particularly during spring festivals.
