Cycling to Thay Pagoda and Ba vi National Park

For a day trip, many tourists opt for the Perfume Pagoda, which is interesting but doesn’t quite compare to the breathtaking scenery of Tam Coc, often dubbed the “Halong Bay on Land”. However, there’s a hidden gem that most tourists overlook, as it’s not included in typical travel agency itineraries: Thay Pagoda and Ba Vi National Park. Located 60 km from Hanoi, the imposing Ba Vi mountain range, with its three peaks culminating at 1276 m, dominates the Delta landscape. Once a retreat for the French seeking respite from the delta’s heat and humidity, it offers tranquility and natural beauty.

Thay Pagoda, also known as Thien Phuc Pagoda, is among the renowned attractions near Hanoi. Dedicated to the worship of Sakyamuni Buddha and the 18 Arhats, this pagoda sits gracefully on the mountainside, surrounded by lush greenery.
