On the afternoon of January 22, the Hanoi Department of Tourism provided information about programs and activities designed to attract tourists during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Accordingly, for the Lunar New Year holiday of 2025, residents will have 9 days off. During this time, many vibrant and exciting events will occur throughout the city to attract visitors for sightseeing and experiences. With the spirit of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, turning culture into a resource and driving force for economic development, especially tourism, a series of events will be held before and throughout the Lunar New Year holiday.
Notable activities showcasing the traditional Tet atmosphere of the Northern Delta region include: the program “Tet Lang Viet 2025” at the Mong Phu communal house space in the ancient village of Duong Lam (Son Tay Town); Tet celebrations at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village (Dong Mo, Son Tay Town) with the theme “Spring Returns to the Villages.”
The program “Sac Xuan At Ty 2025” at the Hoan Kiem Cultural Information Center; the program “Tet Viet – Tet Pho 2025” with a variety of traditional cultural activities at Phung Hung Street Mural Space; a traditional Tet display (from January 20, the 21st of the 12th lunar month) and a reenactment of the “Tong Cuu Nghinh Tan” ritual at the Hoang Thanh Thang Long heritage site.
Major Cultural Festivals and Activities Celebrating Traditional Values
Additionally, during and after the Lunar New Year, tourist sites around the city will continue to organize vibrant cultural and artistic events to attract visitors. For example, the “Ruc Ro Thang Long 2025” art program will be held at the My Dinh National Stadium and the F1 racetrack area (Nam Tu Liem District) from 8:00 PM on January 28 to 2:00 AM on January 29.
The 2025 New Year Countdown performance will take place on New Year’s Eve at the Ngoc Son Temple, in front of the statue of “Quyet Tu De To Quoc Quyet Sinh” (Ba Kieu Temple area, Hoan Kiem District), Lac Long Quan Flower Garden (Tay Ho District), Van Quan Lake (Ha Dong District), and the “Cloud Garden” Festival at Thien Duong Bao Son Park.

In addition, localities have carefully prepared and are ready to host major festivals at the beginning of the new year, including the Huong Pagoda Festival (opening on the 6th of the first lunar month), the Soc Temple Giong Festival, the Co Loa Traditional Festival, the Dong Da Mound Festival, the Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival, and the Tan Vien Son Saint Festival.
At the start of this year, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will also lead, in collaboration with the Hai Ba Trung District People’s Committee, to organize the “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025” program at the special national historical site of the Hai Ba Trung Temple, Pagoda, and Communal House.
Hanoi’s Lunar New Year festivities offer a unique blend of tradition and vibrant celebrations, providing visitors with unforgettable cultural experiences. From ancient villages to lively festivals, the city promises lasting impressions for all.
